New Flag football league in Vancouver and Burnaby for kids grades 2-8

For over 80 years, our organization has been at the forefront of football in Vancouver, inspiring young athletes and creating a legacy of sportsmanship and community. This year, we’re thrilled to announce a ground-breaking moment: the launch of our first full spring season`! In addition, we’re expanding into the Burnaby district, bringing the excitement of football to even more children and teens across the Tricity area, including Vancouver, Burnaby, and surrounding communities. We’re optimistic about fielding enough players to establish our very own league, complete with a full season schedule and playoffs—an incredible step forward for our program.

Our Minor Flag Football League is open to players in grades 2 through 8, offering a vibrant and inclusive environment where young athletes can master the fundamentals of the game, build teamwork, and create lifelong memories. The season begins in **April 2025** with combines, tryouts, and practices, leading into official games from early May through mid-July.

Led by retired professional players and dedicated coaches, our league emphasizes skill development, camaraderie, and a passion for football. And for those ready to commit early, we’re offering a special **December registration rate of just $175**—a discounted price before fees increase in January.

Whether your child is an experienced player or brand new to the sport, there’s a place for them in our league. Don’t miss the chance to be part of a program that’s all about fun, learning, and unforgettable experiences on and off the field.

Letter from your president

For over 75 years, the Vancouver Trojans have been an integral part of our community, dedicated to the sport Introducing the 2024 Vancouver Trojans!of football. As the landscape of football evolves, we too are embracing change, particularly with the recent inclusion of flag football in the Olympic games—an exciting development that has inspired us all.

Several years ago, I made the decision to transition our club from tackle to flag football, anticipating the growth and opportunities this sport would offer. However, this transition has not been without its challenges, particularly in coordinating with neighboring clubs and other football organizations. To address these challenges and better serve our community, I have spearheaded a new executive team and devised a comprehensive plan focused on providing quality flag football experiences for athletes in the Vancouver area.

I am thrilled to announce the launch of the first-ever Vancouver-only Flag Football League. This league will provide local athletes with the opportunity to compete and excel in flag football, with the chance to advance to the provincial flag football championships held in early July. Our dedicated executive team and volunteers will oversee the operation of two formats: 5-on-5 flag football for younger players in grades three through seven, and 7-on-7 for older players.

As we embark on this new chapter, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the elders who have nurtured the tradition of football in Vancouver over the years. I also want to express my appreciation to the parents and community members whose unwavering support has kept the spirit of community football alive.

With enthusiasm and determination, let us usher in a new era of flag football excellence. Go Trojans!
